The Safari Park is the new home of 2 platypuses, the only 2 outside of Australia. The zoo had been working on getting them for over 100 years, as it was a dream of the founder to have some.

Unfortunately, it was quite dark in their exhibit (they are nocturnal), and I had a huge line of people behind me, so I didn’t get any good photos of them. The exhibit had only been open one day, so hopefully next time I go I will have more time to try to get a better shot.

With Covid cases getting under control, we decided to risk a trip to the Safari Park. It is hard to believe that it has been 10 months since we had visited, when we normally visit monthly, if not more often. There were more people there than I would have liked, but everyone was good at wearing their masks.

A thick layer of clouds kept the temperature much cooler than normal, as we walked around the Safari Park visiting the animals.

The animals were very active today at the Safari Park. One of the young bighorn sheep was so curious about the humans visiting, it climbed up the fence to look face to face with the boys. They named him Bobby Bighorn.

Out enjoying a nice day at the Safari Park, when it was all decorated for the holidays.

The park was decorated beautifully for the holiday season with all sorts of lights. There was a light tunnel where the lights synced up with music. We also visited the babirusas and the platypus, before finishing the night with the lantern light show in the lagoon.

Connor’s team won their last game of the season, becoming the regular season champions! They are the #1 seed going into the postseason tournament.

After the game, we grabbed our cameras and took some pictures of the animals at the Safari Park.
